Ferrocement dome with bamboo reinforcement

Ar. Yatharth has been researching since 2015 on using bamboo as a reinforcement material in making monolithic structures. Since bamboo is supposed to have a compressive strength equivalent to mild steel, it can be used in replacement of steel.

During his research on the composite material, Yatharth has tried making panels, blocks etc. using ferrocement and mud, by reinforcing it with either steel or bamboo.

From one of the research findings, Yatharth developed this structure using split bamboo to prepare the skeleton and cement mortar for the skin. The structure proved to be strong enough to hold its own weight and high speed winds. It also comes under the category of low cost buildings. At present it serves as the executives cabin for AuroYali contractors.
